Boy Scout Troop 16 of Danvers, Massachusetts, is an active group of more than 20 boys who camp, hike, swim, and take part in adventures ranging from whitewater rafting and 50-mile backpacking excursions to family trips to places such as Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.
Our chartering organization is the Maple Street Congregational Church of Danvers. We are part of the North Shore District in the Yankee Clipper Council, Boy Scouts of America. Every July we spend one week at Hidden Valley Boy Scout Camp, in the Lake Winnipesaukee region of New Hampshire.
Troop 16 had its first recorded meeting as Troop 1 on March 11, 1911. It is therefore one of the oldest troops in the United States. During a council reorganization on March 1, 1958, Troop 1 became Troop 16, as it exists today.
Troop 16 has produced 29 Eagle Scouts since 2001. In order to attain the Eagle rank, a boy must earn 21 merit badges as well as conceive, manage, and take part in a significant community-service project.
