Boy Scout Troop 16 has compiled a stellar record when it comes to producing Eagle Scouts. Since 1960, which is as far back as our records go, 76 members of Troop 16 have become Eagles. Twenty-nine of those Eagles have earned their awards since 2001.
The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest that can be earned in the Boy Scouts of America. It requires considerable perseverance to get there. Once achieved, his peers, his community, and his nation recognize the scout as having achieved something very significant, and that few attain in their lives.
To advance to Eagle, the scout must earn 21 merit badges, 11 of which are required. In addition, the scout must serve in a leadership role in the troop and conceive, plan, and manage a community service project service that generally involves 100 or more person-hours of labor.
The following young men — some of them now not so young — have earned the Eagle award as members of Troop 16 since 1960.
